BLOOD QUANTUM PEPILI

in hawai’i, we hear a lot of “how much percentage are you?” or others telling us that we aren’t native because our skin tone is a bit lighter. blood quantum is a western concept created by colonizers to further divide us and put us against one another. it is also a tool to breed us out until there is none of us left. we shall no longer obey this thinking, our ancestors said that we are ʻōiwi and that is enough. we are hawaiian enough because our genealogy and ancestry says so. you are hawaiian enough. through knowledge, actions, thoughts, heart, and the way you move through the day. we will not allow this western creation to have us questioning who we are.

this design does not mention specifically hawaiian, as this is a conversation to be had for all indigenous peoples affected by this system. whether here in the hawaiian kingdom, turtle island, or elsewhere - you are native.
